We were first served this drink by Hendrik Albrecht at Le Lion in Hamburg on 28 November 2015. Only shortly before, if we remember correctly, it may have been a few days, Mario Kappes had developed the drink, and so the drink did not have a name at that time. Since Mario is an excellent mixologist and we knew his love for sherry, it was immediately clear to us that we wanted to try this new drink right away.

The drink only got its name in the days after our visit, so we first learned about it on our next visit to the bar on 29 December. That evening, Mario was mixing behind the bar, so we took the opportunity to ask him about it. He was inspired by the sherry he used. He liked it so much that he wanted to make a drink with it that would put this sherry in the centre.

It’s a great drink and we highly recommend it to all our readers.

About

Hi, I'm Armin and in my spare time I want to promote bar culture as a blogger, freelance journalist and Bildungstrinker (you want to know what the latter is? Then check out "About us"). My focus is on researching the history of mixed drinks. If I have ever left out a source you know of, and you think it should be considered, I look forward to hearing about it from you to learn something new. English is not my first language, but I hope that the translated texts are easy to understand. If there is any incomprehensibility, please let me know so that I can improve it.
